Did you ever wonder what your pets are saying to you? Do you wish you could understand the secret languages of your pets? All animals have a way of communication of some kind –we just do not understand them at times. However, it’s important to learn to understand your pet and this list of the secret languages of pets might help you.

1. Hamster chews the bars of the cage

I think it is the most terrible thing when your hamster starts to chew the cage bars and the noise is just unbearable. But you should know that this is actually your fault that your hamster is neglected and bored. According to the statistic data hamsters are the third neglected pets after turtles and rabbits. To change the situation, try to rearrange his cage or get a bigger one. Make sure he has some toys to play, some carton boxes and paper to chew instead of cage bars. Invent some attractions for your pet so that he wouldn’t feel himself bored and lonely in his cage. And, probably, the most important thing you should do is to take him out to play more often.

2. Dog puts his paw on your foot

If your pet does it quite often it is a sign for you to spend more time with him and be closer. Usually dogs do so when they are left alone for a long time when their owner comes back or when they feel kind of a threat either to your friendship or to themselves. For example, when my dog hears fireworks or thunder outside he lies beside me and leaves his paw on my foot. It’s important to know this and take the necessary measures if needed.
3. Dog keeps staring
If you find your dog giving you a piercing look then you need to know that it’s a begging. This is a very tricky way of getting something tasty from his owner. Really smart, isn’t it? I’m sure nobody would bear such a look and treat him to some food. The point is that as you keep doing this he will stare at you more often and if he doesn’t receive your response he will start whining, barking or getting under your feet all the time. Instead of shouting at him to stop, you’d better pat him or take some time to play. It is very important for a dog to have some spiritual connection with his owner, otherwise he may become aggressive.

4. Rabbit nudges you with his nose

As a rule, people don’t know a lot about rabbit’s behavior due to the fact that they are not that widespread pets like cats or dogs. Anyway, if you are lucky to have a rabbit at home you have probably got to know how to differentiate his mood. For example, if he looks like chewing something when he doesn’t have anything in his mouth that’s how he tells you he is in a good mood. But when he gets stiff when you hold him in hands this means he doesn’t trust for some reason (maybe he was left alone for a long time or neglected). And when he nudges you with his nose he wants to tell you that he is happy to see you and this is how he greets you.

5. Cat makes a loud gurgling sound

This act of communication may be interpreted depending upon the situation. The most general meaning –‘I want us to become friends’. After you had some disagreements together he may want to make amends. But when your cat does it regularly then it may signify his feeling insecure. Or it may be just a habit. Another possible variant may be that such chatting and gurgling sound are just a version of his usual purr.
6. Cat blinks slowly
Sometimes at that very moment when you catch your cat’s look and you look in his eyes for some time you may notice that he blinks slowly. What does this mean? It’s actually a great sign because it signifies that your pet trusts you. If you will be more attentive, you will notice that at certain moments during the conversation people blink slower which means that they are listening attentively and show their trust.

7. Horse rolls on the ground

It has been noticed that horses roll on the ground only when they feel safe. For example, when they live in herds in wild nature they feel safe together. This is a sign of a good mood so you shouldn’t take it as done in order to spoil the grooming or, vice versa, as desire to get more attention and grooming. There is nothing to worry about except when it is done very often. In this case, it may mean that your horse has some skin problems and needs your immediate interference.
Did this help you understand some of your pet’s actions? I hope it did and your friendship will get even stronger. What other signs sent by your pet have you learned to interpret?

There are a few seemingly good things most dog owners do that dogs don’t like. Sometimes we love our pets so much that we don’t control our emotions and actions. You may think that your puppy loves your hugs, but he may actually hate them. We all have bad habits and we believe that our pets love us for who we are and they accept even the most annoying habits we have. But why not make their lives easier? Here are eight good things you do that your dog hates.

1. When you pet your dog’s face

When you pet your dog's face
Whether you pat your puppy’s head or pet his face, are you sure that he likes it? In fact, most dogs, as well as most animals, hate being patted on the head. It can be painful and annoying, especially if strangers do it. If your dog pulls his head back and lean away when you are trying to pat his head or pet his face, it’s a sure sign your dog doesn’t like it. If you have kids, you should teach them to gently pet your dog’s back, and avoid touching his face and patting his head. Your puppy will definitely thank you!
Winter is just around the corner! This extremely beautiful season can carry the lives of many animals away, because they often cannot find a suitable place to spend the winter. People are able to use various facilities of a modern and civilized world. A cozy and warm house, a cup of tea and your favorite music can make your winter better and more comfortable. Most animals have no chance to enjoy this cold winter. They live in hope to receive help from us.
Unfortunately, only tender-hearted retirees or active workers of different animal rescue groups feed and take care of animals. Young and busy people find charity pointless and unnecessary. They’re often not interested in animal welfare because they cannot make profit on it. What a pity that the society has set new and cruel priorities, but wise people still remember that both bad and good things have a tendency to come back. Parents should be a role model for their children. They should teach their kids to love animals.
According to the statistics, thousands of animals die during the winter months. The most common causes of animal deaths are starvation and cold. I don’t want to lecture you about unfairness in life. I just want people to realize that without our support many animals are doomed to sufferings and painful death. It’s high time to turn our twinges of conscience and ideas into concrete actions to save the lives of animals. Here are 5 effective steps to comfort and inspire our little and shelterless friends.

1. Join or support animal charity organizations

Today there’re lots of animal charity organizations that dedicate all their time, money and energy to help animals survive in this harsh world. They’re groups of kind-hearted personalities, united by a common purpose to shelter and protect as many animals as possible. The most difficult thing in their activity is to find money and other useful resources, because these organizations aren’t financed by the government. They also have to attract other people and sponsors in order to get a specified amount of money to cover their activity expenses.
If you have some free time and you’re mentally ready to look into the eyes of a stray animal, then you should join an animal charity organization. For sure, this heartful activity will help you experience a full range of positive emotions, because rescuing lives is a wonderful thing. Those who have no time to join charity organizations can provide financial support, sending money to animal organization’s bank account. Plus, you can supply these organizations with all necessary medicines and foods. If you don’t prefer to cooperate with charity organizations, you may take a different tack.

2. One animal – one life

Without a doubt, you meet many stray animals on your way to work, college or school. You may begin to feel a liking for a sweetie cat or a nice puppy. This little and pure creature is always glad to see you. Its positivity makes your mood better. Now it’s your turn to do a good deed. Try to protect those animals from severe cold during this winter.
The first thing you should do is to feed them every day, because regular and substantial nourishment is crucially important. Satisfactory nourishment helps the body of a little tomtit bear even a severe frost. Many dogs and cats aren’t resistant enough to a biting cold. They have practically no chances to survive. Use your skillful hands and imagination to build a small warm box for a stray animal to live in. Ask your friends to help you construct the box. This shelter will protect your favorite animal from wind, rain and snow.
Moreover, such insignificant acts of kindness will give life and hope for many animals from all over the world. My friend is a talented needlewoman. She spends all her free time to embroider warm vests for dogs and cats. At the end of autumn, she sends beautiful handmade clothes to different animal shelters.

3. Use social media

Not long ago I got acquainted with a disabled person. I was pleasantly surprised to get to know that her main hobby and occupation was to rescue animals. This young and beautiful lady uses her computer and the Internet as an effective tool to save animals from suffering. Her volunteer activity gives stray or abandoned animals a second chance to find a new and caring family. She cooperates with various animal charity organizations in order to draw the attention of the communities to the problem of animal homelessness and hunger. She adds the photos and information about animals to different forums and social network websites. I think that such people are from heaven.
You should also take into consideration that using social media is a great opportunity to find good people who will support your charity plans and purposes. Let all people know about what’s happening to stray animals. Invite your friends to join animal charity groups.

4. Take a stray animal into your home

Are you ready to take a direct responsibility for the life of at least one stray animal this winter? I hope, yes. This miracle will quickly get used to your house and become a new family member. It will love you with all its heart and bring tenderness, sincerity, protection and harmony in your family. If you’re afraid of all possible consequences, you can take the animal and go to the local animal shelter. The veterinarian will quickly examine the ‘patient’ and give you all necessary instructions. This step is extremely important, because your safety is the main priority. If you don’t want an animal become a part of your family, then try to give it shelter and provide an opportunity to spend the cold winter months in your warm house. I’m sure that animals won’t cause you too much inconvenience. My friend and workmate has 7 cats in the house. This cat person might have a big and kind heart.
5. Spend time with them
Hey, people! Don’t be so unsympathetic and callous toward animals. We are not obliged to donate time and money to animal charities, but if we completely lose our moral values, our kids and future generations will suffer from the sins of their ancestors. Nowadays it’s so hard to find correct words that can melt the ice in the hearts of those who’re still indifferent to the sufferings of weak and unprotected creatures.
If you have no money and will to take care of animals, you can at least go up with a smile and stroke a stray cat on the head. Play a bit and share your good mood with an animal. One minute of sincere and open communication with the cat will help the animal understand that they’re not alone in this world. They’re as smart as human beings. Animals can feel, worry and get offended as well. Don’t find it odd to please stray animals, because they also need friendship, communication and joy. Also don’t forget to give them some delicious treats!

6. Feed birds

Birds are those little animals that also need our help. It’s not so difficult to feed birds in your garden, on your balcony or even at your window sill. Don’t forget about warm water for them. They can’t say “Thank you” and they may not show any signs of love. But they will definitely appreciate you and you will see them every day and may even love them as your pets.
This is not just an article; it’s an appeal to every reader. This winter is going to be cold and snowy. If people decide to take the seasonal problem of animals upon themselves, this winter will bring only positive emotions to both human beings and animals. We still have time to build more bird-feeders, warm boxes and other accessories to protect animals from the vagaries of the weather. Do you have any other ideas on how to help animals this winter? Have you ever given shelter to stray animals? Share your experiences!

Have you ever thought about the role of pets on this planet? They are not just animals; they’re creatures of God that make me feel happier in this world. I think I’m a happy person, because I’ve been surrounded by pets all of my life. I cannot imagine my home without a cat or a dog. If to weigh all advantages and disadvantages of having a pet, I’m sure that you’ll find more pleasant and positive moments than negative ones. One of my workmates once said that only lonely people tend to have pets. I completely disagree with her point of view, because pets are your friends and communication with best friends proves that you’re frank and amicable person.
The historical research proves that even ancient people treated animals as friends and used their help in everyday life. Even nowadays nothing has changed. People’s love and admiration toward pets have significantly increased. Besides moral satisfaction, pets can improve both physical and mental well-being. Scientists prove that communication with animals increases the level of oxytocin. This hormone helps people be more resistant to fear and different depressive states. Furthermore, I know that those people who own cats are more emotionally resistant than those who own dogs. But dog owners are more active and broadbrow individualities.
I’m a cat person and I find cats the most beautiful and tender pets in the world. They fill my life with joy and peace. My cat Johnson gives me strong moral support that helps me stay out of negative and obsessive thoughts. When I play with him, I forget about my problems and that’s extremely important to me.

1. Pets Are the Most Devoted Creatures

Nowadays I meet more and more people totally disappointed in human friendship and love. Old and wise people often joke that if you want to find a real friend and be sure that they’ll never betray, then start keeping a pet. I know that many of true words spoken in jest.
If to compare cats and dogs, I think that dogs are especially devoted to their owners. Cats are devoted as well, but sometimes they can use tricks in order to get what they want. Both of them will never blindside you or criticize your actions, because they just love you for who you’re.
A few years ago I watched a sentimental film, “Hachiko.” This touching movie made a tear fall from my eyes, because I understood that real friendship between a dog and a man was evident. Pets are ready to die for their owners, because they cannot live and be happy without them. I’m sure that my cat Johnson is a true friend of mine and I believe that he is as devoted as Hachiko.

2. They Teach Me to Become Better

Pets are very sensitive and wise creatures. It seems to me that they know the truth of life. Unlike people, animals don’t create problems out of nothing. They are free of negative thoughts and inner pain. Their pure hearts are made for loving their owners. People should learn to love, care and smile selflessly, like their pets usually do.
When I look into my Johnson’s eyes I feel pure peace and contentment. I’ve always wondered how cats can be so calm and emotionally reserved. When I communicate and play with my wondrous Johnson, I become calmer. Furthermore, I think that pets teach us to be more friendly, positive, light and relaxed. Plus, they make our hearts kind and we become more caring and loving personalities.
3. Pets Can Heal the Wounds of My Soul and Body
It may seem strange, but pets have the power to heal both physical and mental human disorders. Thousands of real stories prove their healing ability. I think that pets don’t only follow their instincts, but they can both feel and think.
Every time I come home in a bad mood, Johnson greets me with joy. Without a doubt, it’s a wonderful feeling to know that somebody is waiting for you. When I lay down on the sofa, he gets on my body and starts massaging my stomach with his paws and purring loudly. This is the best healing therapy in the world. Furthermore, I can share my life troubles with Johnson. He always listens to me carefully, as if understands what I’m talking about. Sometimes he may tell: “Meow, meow”, as if trying to give me an advice or calm me down. I don’t hesitate to talk with pets, because I find them interesting interlocutors. It’s scientifically proved that many pets, especially cats can feel the emotions of their owners and soothe physical and mental pain.
Pets Help Me Live a Happier Life

4. They Make Me More Organized

I must confess that several years ago I was a bit unorganized person. I found it difficult to manage my time and live according to the schedule. When Johnson appeared in my life, I became more organized, because I felt myself responsible for his life. All kinds of pets require a lot of attention and care. That’s why their owners should be more active in order to bring up a wonderful and healthy pet.
People who haven’t enough time or lazybones by nature, should have pets that require minimal care. Dog owners should find time to walk their dogs at least twice a day. Consequently, the owners of pets become more disciplined and develop the skill to manage their time effectively. If you’re a responsible person, but suffer from lack of self-organization, then adopt a pet.

5. Pets Can Save Me and Apprehend Danger

The research proves that pets can apprehend danger. Their premonition of bad things may help people save their lives and avoid risks. Pets begin to behave strange when they feel danger, trying to give their owners a sign or a hint that something terrible is going to happen. They can feel death, earthquakes and other catastrophes in advance. That’s why owners should be more attentive to notice the signs given by their pets. They should count on their pets, because animals think about the safety of their owners more than about themselves.
Thanks God, I’ve never been in extremely dangerous situations, but I’m absolutely sure that my favorite cat Johnson will save me, if necessary, because he’s like a brother for me. I always try to notice and analyze strange behaviors of my pet.
In conclusion, I want to say that pets are my four legged brothers. They make my life more colorful and interesting. I cannot imagine myself and my world without them. My lovely cat Johnson helps me deal with stress and brings me to life every time I lose my heart. His love and devotion give me power and inspiration to go through hard time with a smile on my face.
If you want to get a pet, but still hesitate whether to do it or not, just listen to your heart. This is the best choice, if you want to find real and devoted friends. Do you have pets at home? Do you believe that pets can help their owners live a happier life? Share your thoughts, please.

Many different kinds of dogs have been bred over the centuries. Some breeds were developed for the hunt, others for work of one kind or another. Besides these useful functions, one of the dog’s main purposes has been to provide companionship for families. Here are 11 great dog breeds that are excellent with kids.

1. Great Danes

Great Danes
Great Danes are so immense because they were bred to chase large prey and protect homes from large predators. Despite their great size and fierce demeanors, though, they are famously tender and loving with their families. They are very playful and full of energy. While active older children will enjoy the boundless energy of this breed, this energy can easily make its great size too much for smaller children to handle. Great Danes are easy to house-train since they have an immense desire to please their owner. They are friendly with all family members, friends and even strangers unless they think that something threatens you. Great Danes thrive on socialization, that’s why they need new experiences, sights, plenty of different people and activities.
If you are thinking about getting a pet, but want something more unique, there are a few unusual pets you can own these days. While cats and dogs, hamsters and parrots are cute, exotic pets can bring more joy and better companionship to you. However, you should know that exotic pets are a huge responsibility. You need to think twice before getting one of the most unusual pets to keep you company.

1. Fennec Fox

Fennec Fox
Although most foxes usually make bad pets, the Fennec fox is an excellent pet to own. This cute desert animal tends to be small (they are smaller than cats) and smart. You can even housetrain your Fennec fox to use a litter box. The Fennec fox is playful, requires a lot of exercise, and poses no threat to public safety. When fully grown, your Fennec fox will be about the weight and size of a Chihuahua.

Cats are my favorite pets. I’m almost charmed by the grace and beauty of these wonderful creatures. I am an owner of a former stray cat and I want to share my experience of bringing a stray cat into your life. You should be aware of various difficulties if you have an intention to take in a stray kitten. Before you decide to raise a stray animal, you need to consider the safety of yourself and your family. Moreover, you are to be patient enough to help the pet acclimatize to your home and life. Here are a few important tips for adopting a stray cat.

1. Take the pet to the vet

If you decide to bring a stray cat into your life, it’s strongly recommended to take your new feline friend to the vet and ask them to check the cat for communicable disease. Moreover, you can receive an appointment to get the cat all necessary vaccinations. It will protect both you and any pets you may already have living with you.

2. Create conditions

You need also to create conditions needed to take care of your new family member. You should offer the cat some food, fresh water and some type of a litter box. If you don’t exactly know what cats usually eat, you should buy different kinds of wet cat food, because it is very useful for cats. A blanket is a good thing for your pet to rest on.

3. A quite room

If you adopt a stray cat, you should place him in a room all his own for a few days. This will give him a chance to understand that he is in safe from all risks in your home. If you have other pets, try to avoid meetings face to face. Many veterinarians recommend petting each cat with a sock or towel to pick their scent, and then petting another cat with the same sock or towel so they will begin to identify the scent as part of their family or home.

4. Toys

The game is the best way to get free and make friends. There are many games and toys, which can help your cat enjoy the process and feel comfortable around you. Frankly speaking, I don’t know cats that are indifferent to little mouse toys or a stick with a string. Plus, playing with cats usually solves behavior problems and prevents obesity. Playtime is an important part of your cat’s physical and mental well-being.

5. Quality time

It is important to realize that you need to build trust and good relationship with your new pet, if you want the cat to become one of your favorite family members. Spend more time communicating with the cat and let him get used to you. Furthermore, you should stroke your feline as much as possible. Try to show your love and it will let your pet feel safe around you.

6. Let the cat come to you

I know that it is so tempting to touch and pick up your new cat. You should stop chasing and bothering your pet, but let him come to you. Cats are very sensible creatures, so it usually takes them some time to get used to the atmosphere and people around. I think it is useless to force your cat sleep on the top of you, because he will run away all the time. Treat your cat with love and he will come to you on his own.

7. Introduce the cat to the household

Find time to introduce your feline friend to the household. Let the cat explore the area independently, because cats are very curious about everything. If you already have some pets, you should be very careful while introducing a new cat to them. Don’t forget that you are a mediator between your pets relationship, so you need to dedicate enough time to help your new friend acclimatize. It should be a slow process in order to prevent fights and conflicts. If everything is ok, then you can let them play a game to help them get used to each other in a short period of time.
It is very noble to help stray animals. Only good-natured people can bring a stray cat into their home and give it a shelter. But you are to be patient and careful enough to avoid various problems. If you follow these tips, your new stray kitten will become an important and loved member of your family in a quite short period of time. Have you ever brought a stray cat into your home? If you are on a tight budget and you need to groom your dog, don’t worry, there are a few tips you can follow to groom your pup and save money. We all (I mean pet owners) have been there and it’s not the end of the world. Since many groomers can charge over $40 only for a cut, I think it’s worth learning how to groom your precious pet at home, especially if you have several dogs and they all need a regular trim. With a few easy tips, you can do a great job and leave your dog feeling fresher and cleaner in no time.

1. Brush

Start with brushing your dog. Remove all debris and tangles from the hair, and find all hair knots that must be cut out. Brushing will help you see which parts of your dog’s coat need the most attention. For example, a long-haired dog tends to carry more hair through their belly area and tail, than their head and legs, while a short-haired dog has the same amount of hair all over the body, with a little more on the belly. Many dogs have more hair around the ears. It’s important to choose the right brush. If your dog has a very thick, difficult to manage coat, buy a special detangling brush. This brush is typically thin and slick and it helps to remove tangles better. Just make sure you brush your dog carefully, without hurting your pet. If your dog has a soft, oily hair, choose a bigger bristle brush, which will help to remove excess oil and debris.

2. Talk to your dog gently

Although the next step after brushing should be bathing, talking to your dog gently before bathing them is extremely important. Many dogs find bath time unpleasant and they can run, hide, or howl when they realize it’s time for their bath. Talk to your pet and assure them that you aren’t mad at them. It can help keep your pup more manageable.

3. Bathe

Now, it’s time to bathe your dog. It’s better to wash them in a sink with a spray attachment. Your pet will be more comfortable when you spray them clean instead of using the faucet. Remember that the water must be lukewarm so you don’t make your pet shiver, or burn their skin. For bathing, choose a baby shampoo or a special skin condition shampoo. If your dog has fleas, buy a special flea shampoo. When bathing, lather your pet up and cut the water off because the running water can make your pet even more nervous. Be careful not to get water and shampoo in the mouth, eyes, ears, legs, paws, and bottom. After washing the body, clean your pet’s eyes and inside their ears using a warm cloth. If you see fleas, just pick them off of your dog. Cleanse the shampoo away using lukewarm water and dry your dog with a large towel, getting as much water off your pet as possible. If you see any knots, be sure to work them out.

4. Use a pair of special grooming scissors

If you are not experienced, you should never use regular scissors on your pet. You can buy a pair of special grooming scissors online or at any pet store. They are cheap and they will make grooming your dog much easier. If you can’t buy grooming scissors, opt for a sharp scissors with long blades but make sure you cut at a blunt angle. Be careful around their face, especially eyes, belly, bottom, toes and other tender areas.

5. Clean up

If you don’t want the hair to fly everywhere when you dry your pet, clean up all the hair after grooming. This may sound obvious, but many of us often forget about this step and end up finding the dog’s hair all over the house.

6. Dry your dog

Dogs as well as cats hate a hair dryer, and it perhaps the most scary part of grooming for them, but a hair dryer will help get your pet’s hair completely dry. Plus, it will help to get rid of the wet dog smell and fluff up the hair. Continue to brush your dog when drying them, because it will help fluff the coat better and will make it more beautiful.

7. Reward

Every professional groomer knows that a small reward is a must after grooming. Rewarding your dog will help them love bath time and associate it with a good reward. You can give your dog a hug and kiss, their favorite treat, or just pat your dog and tell them they did an excellent job.
Although grooming a dog at home takes time and practice, it’s a sure way to save money and help your pet love bath time. After all, it’s always better when you are doing it, not a stranger. Do you have any tips for grooming a dog at home?
